| How to List your business |
|
A VERY SIMPLE step by step guide to listing your business and what to expect.
Listing your business should take you around 5 minutes. Then adding all your photos, events and so on will take you about another 15 mins..
My Business listings:
FIRST: hit the 'Join us Now!' button in the top right hand side of your screen. This will open up a 'register here' page.
Create a 'username' and 'password'
Enter in your information as requested.
Enter your contact info, so we can contact you and send you confirmation emails (You 'need' to activate your account.
Hit the 'register now' button
You will now get a 'registration successful' page. Now check you email in a couple of minutes and you should have a confirmation email (We need to know it was YOU who did this) On the email is a 'red' link here. Click on this and you will confirm your listing and take you to your Member control panel. Now use your 'username' and 'password' you joined with and hit the 'Login now' button.
(When you return to the site at a later date, just hit the "Member' button on the top row and login)
My Business listings:
Ok.. here we go.. 'CREATE NEW' red button. Click on this. Now 'Choose a package' (in red) Select the 'FREE Listing' and hit 'choose' at the bottom of the column. (You will now get 500 characters to tell the world about you, 3 photos of your business, 2 events, specials and so on) Ignore everything else. (we can't delete these categories) Hit 'Choose'
Create New business Listings: (in red)
'Choose Category*' Select the town/region only.. (Nannup, Manjimup etc) you are located in from the drop down box. THIS is IMPORTANT!
VERY IMPORTANT: The next blank DROPDOWN box underneath is 'WHAT" you are.. ie: Nannup - Cottages/chalets (Don't leave this blank) ~ (The box above this is ONLY the 'Location' of where you are)
So the first box is JUST your town..IE: Nannup. The blank drop down box underneath is 'town plus what you are' IE: Nannup - Chalets/Cottages'
Title/Name: = Business name.
Business logo: Hit the 'browse' button and another box will open where you can browse your computer until you find the logo you want to upload. Click on it and the technology will do the rest)
Short description: Just the heading. A sentence or two max.. Capture their attention here.
Full description: Go for it! Tell the world about your business and why they should come to you.
Work your way down to the Postcode. (Zipcode) This IS important. The technology will use it to create your Google map that will appear on your site. People can click on this and it will give them step by step directions on how to find you!!
Keep working down the page.. pretty self explanatory. Just ignore anything you don't want or need to add. Then hit the 'Add business now' button.
It will open a new page with 'Your listing has been successfully submitted' (in red) Forget the 'payment for subscription' bit... It's free for the year.
That's it! You will now get an email very shortly (minutes) saying your listing has been submitted and awaiting approval. (up to 3 days max) NOW: You will notice above (in red) My Account: My Profile: My business listing: My so on etc.
PS: ALWAYS LOGOUT WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED!.
If you want to see your initial listing, click on the 'My business listings' (in red above) This is where you manage your listing from. you will see you listing ID number and on the right hand side, you will see some links (in red) Notice, say, 'pictures'(0) This shows you have no pictures yet and provides the link to upload some. If you click on this, it will take you to the 'manage pictures' (in red) page where you can easily upload your photos (real simple) If you want to add a picture (up to 3) Hit the 'create now' button. Now you are on the 'Add picture' page where you can upload a max of 3 photos about your place. TIP: Sort out your logo and photos before you start, It does help. don't forget to write a caption under each photo.. 'View from the balcony' etc (Uploading photos from your computer can take a few minutes depending on your connection speed and size of photo.
You will now be back at the 'Manage pictures' page when it's dome uploading. You will be able to see 'thumbnails' of the images you have just uploaded.
REMEMBER: You are in a 'members area' This is NOT what the public will see.. I'll get to that later. This is the place that you can login at anytime under 'Members' heading on the main page www.winterbreaks.net.au Once logged in, you can edit, add and make changes to your listing.
Now you will get some more emails! (we just love you!) If you have uploaded 3 pictures, you will get 3 emails! The reason we do this is so that you 'know' something happened and we got your stuff ok. We don't leave you wondering?? Every time you do something, we send you an email! You upload a picture and we tell you we got it! (We then review all pictures and sites to make sure they are applicable to a south west tourism site.. we don't want anybody putting 'porn' on there!
If you have submitted a picture, then you will see a 'thumbnail' of it on the email we send to you! (all done in minutes) Notice: all this is taking place under the red 'My account' button at the top of the page. this is where you come to edit your business listing, photos, events.. whatever.
Now you can go back to the 'My business listing' (in red) above. Click on it.. You are back to 'Manage your listings here' If you have uploaded 2 photos, then you will see the 'pictures (2)' If you want to add an event '(like special rates or something) Then just click on 'events' or add a 'product, then click on 'products'
Now this is the bit you've been waiting for. ~ click on 'view'. Now you can see your business details as a visitor would see it. The photos will automatically come when they have been approved. visitors can 'send a message' to you, or 'tell a friend' about you from here. They can also post a comment' or 'bookmark' your page.
they can also visit your website simply by clicking on the 'website' link. Is someone wants to ask you a question, then they just fill out the 'send a message' and a new scree opens. A short, simple form appears, including an 'anti spam' code. visitors don't see your email address either! The form is automatically delivered to the email addresses you gave us. A 'You've got a message!' will appear in your email box. The visitor is also notified that they message has been sent.
and guess what! ~ When we approve a picture, or event, or product.. you get another email from us!! It just tells you that the picture or event is 'live' on your listing site. After you get the initial 'approved' email, you can go to the WinterBreaks.net.au website and see your listing! You will see on the main page, that a 'New business in our directory' is active and you are there. Visitors see this straight away and can click to get more details. You will also appear as 'new listing' on the top right hand side of the main page. Your website address is listed here and is clickable. Also, if you click on your town, this is where your full listing will appear.
THIS is what a full listing of your business should look like here (It's all screen shot pictures, so let them load for a minute or so)
This sounds like a lot of info but it's real easy to do. Most of the above is if you get stuck.. and if you get REALLY stuck, contact us and we'll help you.. ok.
